Insights and Reflections about Cold Front

Today, I have learned that a cold front is the transition zone where a cold air mass is replacing a warmer air mass.  It generally moves from northwest to southeast. The air behind it is noticeably colder and drier than the air ahead of it. When a cold front passes through, temperatures can drop more than 15 degrees within the first hour.
I will apply my learnings about cold front so that we can know what to do when cold front passed our area. We can also know what weather phenomena it will bring.
Learnings about this phenomenon is important because we can be aware of what weather might we experience during cold front.
On a larger scale, I will share my learnings in this phenomenon because knowledge about Cold Front can help us prepare ourselves for the dangers and other possible happenings that might occur during this phenomenon.
I need to know more about the factors that may contribute to the formation and development of a Cold Front and also the measures to be taken during it.

Insights and Reflections about the poem "Desiderata by Max Ehrmann"

"Be yourself. Especially do not feign affection," a line taken from the poem Desiderata by Max Ehrmann that has caught my attention.
As Max Ehrmann wrote the poem Desiderata, he wants to convey the basic principles of life. Each one of us is different from one another. Different in terms of expressing ourselves and also the path we are taking in. The poem teaches us to just be ourselves and just live your life to the fullest inspite of the hindrance or struggles that we might face. We must also learn to accept our failures and take the opinion of others thinking that they can help even in simplest way. Every person in this world has their own explanation for everything.
Comparing yourself with others is like not believing in your own capability. Many of us, loves to compare themselves to the ones they idolize, which in turn can lead to their own frustrations because the wasn't able to achieve what they envy to the people they idolize. This poem also teaches to just be yourself. Enjoy every moment in your life. Treasure every achievement you will get. Plan every action you will, for you will not be disappointed of what the result will be.
We should also strive hard to reach our goals in life. Even there are many hindrance blocking up your way to the finish line, life must go on. One should prove others what they got and what they can do just to achieve what they want for their future.

In reading this wonderful poem, I have learn so many things that I should apply in my daily life. I must be myself every time, everywhere. I should put my whole heart in to whatever path  I am taking.

Low Carbon Diet Journal (October 8-14, 2012)

It was a mind blowing week! Our learning ability was challenged during our periodical test.
These past days I had to be up until past days to finish lectures and requirements and also to prepare for the quarterly test. In doing this, I will be using up much energy. To avoid this, I turned off the television and other electronic devices that might get my attention. I did not only conserve energy, but also, I’m sure that I will be focused on what I am doing. Another thing is, I only turn on the light that will give sufficient light in my workspace. And before I go to sleep, I assure that no lights or appliances will be left plugged.
This week, our English Teacher, asked us to bring used papers and bottles. Those papers and bottles will be reused or sell it in a junk shop or factory to be recycled. In doing this garbage around us will be reduced.
Many will think that this is just a waste of time but as long as it is for our own sake I will always take time in helping Mother Earth. And also I believe that every move we make counts, every sterp we take is a great help to our environment, to us and also to the next generation.

Low Carbon Diet Journal (October 1-7, 2012)

A busy week for all! Busy? Why? Because this week was a preparation for Teachers’ Day celebration. But even though were that busy, I still don’t forgt to nurture Mother Nature.
Almost the whole week was allotted in practicing our performance for the “big day”. It means that hunger, thirst and tiredness were felt by everyone. To satisfy our feelings, we rest and take a break at the canteen.  After that, trash was created. Being a responsible steward of the nature, we threw it at the right place. We also make sure that no garbage will be left.
We also experienced black outs. And it means water availability is also affected. Knowing this, I lessen my water usage. I used a glass while brushing my teeth and lessen my shower time. And make sure that I left enough water for other purposes.
Being a responsible steward of nature, I do all my best in doing things that will hel save our planet earth which is dying nowadays.

Low Carbon Diet Journal (September 24 – 30, 2012)

This week was a very fun and exciting week. Many of our teachers were busy preparing for this year’s intramurals. But instead of doing nothing, I just help in cleaning the surroundings.
Much garbage was created this week, so to help, I picked out those trash and throw them in the right place. I also manage to keep my trash in my pocket or inside my bag when a trash bin or garbage bag is out of sight, so when I see one, I’ll be able to dispose it properly.
These past days we also experienced very hot days. To relieve the hot feeling, I need to drink a lot of water. And that’s what I did. I have drunk a minimum of two mineral water a day. But in doing that, I had created a lot of trash, so to not interrupt the nature; I put the empty bottles into the sack for bottles. The bottles in that sack will be sold in the junk shop which in turn will be recycled.
In doing these things, I put in my mind that even in the simplest way I can help mother nature.

Low Carbon Diet Journal (September 17 - 23, 2012)

This week we experienced heavy rains, thuderstorms and cold nights. But this does not become a hindrance for our teachers to give us schoolworks. In fact, many presentations and outputs were  asked this week.
Since many schoolworks were given, paper usage was required. To help nature, I didn’t use a lot of paper. And in case of using scratch, I just use rejected papers. I also practiced putting all the trash I’ve made into the trash bin.
It’s raining! And the weather is cold. I must turn off the electric fan or any cooling device to lessen the cold feeling. It also helps lessen the electric consumption. I also reduce my bath time which can help minimize water usage. And I practiced to use a pail and a dipper in taking a bath to avoid wasting water.
Even though I’m busy, I still don’t forget to nurture our Mother Nature.

Low Carbon Diet Journal (September 10 – 16, 2012)

It’s a very tiring week. Many lectures, performances, outputs and tests were required by our teachers. But inspite of that, I still don’t forget Mother Earth. I still practice to do eco – friendly things.
In doing my outputs, I manage not to waste anything. I separate those that I can use for other outputs from those that I will not be able to use. I kept the stuffs needed for future use and throw those that cannot be use anymore. Also in making our props for the play in English, we manage not to throw anything that can be use in the future. Even in buying those stuffs, I/we just walk to go to the shop.
While reviewing for the test, I turned off the unnecessary things that might get my attention. I also turned off the unnecessary lights. And after reviewing, I decided to go to sleep. But before that, I brush my teeth first with a glass to avoid water spillage. I then go to sleep. Oh, what a peaceful night!
I have told a lot. And I wish that I helped Mother Nature for this week.
